Some Kind of Laundry Line

Every Morning I Wake Up With Fuzz In My Beard

I miss this. However, tomorrow I get my license and Tuesday I get my Partner In Crime. Huzzah!

We All End In The Ocean

Things to do in the days up-coming:
  1. Hunt for more great music.
  2. Go grocery shopping for fruit and juice.
  3. Finish cleaning out the guest room. Make the futon.
  4. Put away books and sweaters.
  5. Prepare my mom's room for post-surgery recuperation.
  6. Take and pass driver's test.
  7. Get directions to the airport to pick up John.
  8. Go downtown, my dad's, D.C., the mall and the park.
  9. Sleep less.
  10. See friends.

It's All Mixed Up

"So here I am, in the middle way, having had twenty years—
Twenty years largely wasted, the years of l'entre deux guerres
Trying to use words, and every attempt
Is a wholly new start, and a different kind of failure
Because one has only learnt to get the better of words
For the thing one no longer has to say, or the way in which
One is no longer disposed to say it. And so each venture
Is a new beginning, a raid on the inarticulate
With shabby equipment always deteriorating
In the general mess of imprecision of feeling,
Undisciplined squads of emotion. And what there is to conquer
By strength and submission, has already been discovered
Once or twice, or several times, by men whom one cannot hope
To emulate—but there is no competition—
There is only the fight to recover what has been lost
And found and lost again and again: and now, under conditions
That seem unpropitious. But perhaps neither gain nor loss.
For us, there is only the trying. The rest is not our business."
~ T.S.Eliot, Four Quartets, East Coker pt. V

Spent

I found my very old Kodak EasyShare in the basement. It has a whopping 4.0 mega pixels. However, it does beat using my phone. So, equipped with the dinosaur digital, I spent the morning outside observing dead plants and bright colored houses.

Resolutions

The first spontaneous act of my year? I wrote and recorded a song. I rather hope this continues. (The spontaneity. I don't know if I have many songs left in me.)

Tomorrow I will do everything I can to have the house spotless. I will do as many loads of laundry as it takes until all the clothes are finished and until I have underwear to wear. I will NOT be living out of my suitcases anymore.

I took this picture in Italy. Gorgeous and bright place. I would talk more about it but I'm beyond sleeping. Until next time...

Bearsbearsbearbears

What's a good way to stay happy? Get rid of everything that makes you mad? Make your bed? Destroy everything sad? Write a song about bears? Find everything that makes you content and carry it around with you? Go through old books to see what you used to like reading? I'm not sure I've quite found the solution but I believe, somewhere deep down inside, that everyone feels exactly the same as everyone else and there's something reassuring about that.

On another note, today I was watching my cat for a very long time. (I suppose I was still in the process of waking up and was a tad bit cloudy.) Her name is Bastet and she's a calico and she's a diva. But anyways, I was watching her, and it seems to me that cats spend every minute that they are awake fighting the urge to sleep. I also came to the realization that I'm turning into a cat.

Have you been asked about your resolution yet? If not, what's your New Year's Resolution? I resolve to have better relationships. To be a better friend. The year has started out alright. The only thing that could have made it better was a ring-in-the-New-Year kiss. But there's plenty of time to make up for that.
